Police Officer Ivorie Klusmann was killed in a vehicle crash while responding to a call at approximately 2:45 am.
His patrol car left the roadway and struck a tree near the intersection of DeKalb Medical Parkway and Heritage Park Trail.
Officer Klusmann had served with the DeKalb County Police Department for only 10 months and was assigned to the East Precinct.
The DeKalb County Police Department Traffic Specialist Unit and the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating a fatal single vehicle accident involving an on-duty DeKalb County Police Officer. The accident occurred near the intersection of DeKalb Medical Pkwy and Heritage Park Trail around 2:45 a.m on Aug. 10. Preliminary indications are that Officer Ivorie Klusmann was responding to a call in the area when his vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree. The officer was deceased at the scene. This incident is still under active investigation.
Officer Klusmann, age 31, was employed by the DeKalb County Police Department since 10/29/2012. He was assigned to the Uniform Division / East Precinct.
