Deputy Douglas Hanna was responding to a call at approximately 12:10 a.m. when a pickup truck ran a stop sign and collided with the passenger side of his patrol vehicle. Deputy Hanna was travelling eastbound on State Highway 54A, west of Corn, when the pickup driver entered the highway from County Road 2350. Deputy Hanna’s patrol vehicle rolled multiple times, partially ejecting him even though he was wearing his seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
CORN, Okla. (AP) – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Washita County deputy sheriff has been killed in a two-vehicle collision near Corn.
A report on the crash says 44-year-old Deputy Douglas Leon Hanna died in the crash on Oklahoma 54-A about 12:10 a.m. Sunday.
The report says Hanna was responding to a call when the truck he was driving was hit in the passenger side by another truck that had run a stop sign. The driver of the second truck was treated and released at a Weatherford hospital.
The nature of the call Hanna was responding to was not immediately released – nor was whether he had his emergency lights and siren activated.
