Sergeant Patrick Divers suffered a fatal heart attack while participating in a drug buy-bust operation with other detectives in the area of Myrtle Avenue and Nostrand Avenue, in Brooklyn, at about 10:30 am.
Other officers immediately transported him to a local hospital when he started suffering chest pains. He passed away at the hospital a short time later.
Sergeant Divers had served with the New York City Police Department for 25 years and was assigned to Brooklyn North Narcotics. He is survived by his wife, daughter, and son.
LEVITTOWN, NY (MorichesDaily) — NYPD Officer Sgt. Patrick Divers, of Levittown, died after he had a heart attack while conducting a narcotics investigation today in Brooklyn.
The officer was conducting a narcotics investigation with a narcotics team in Brooklyn this morning, when he began to experience chest pains.
The 51-year-old was rushed to Woodhull Medical Center in cardiac arrest, but could not be saved.
Divers made more than 1,000 arrests and earned 35 recognition awards during his service with the NYPD.
He graduated from St. John’s University.
The sergeant was a 25-year veteran of the NYPD and leaves behind a wife and two children.
