Border Patrol Agent David Delaney died after suffering a medical emergency while on foot patrol in Brewster County, Texas.
He was in the process of hiking to a location near Big Bend National Park to setup a camera when he suffered the medical emergency.
Agent Delaney had served with the United States Border Patrol for 10 years and was assigned to the Big Bend Sector. He is survived by his wife, son, and two daughters.

 

A U.S. Border Patrol Agent died near Big Bend National Park on Friday, Nov. 2.

The Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector released the following statement Friday afternoon:

"U.S. Border Patrol agent David R. Delaney, assigned to the Big Bend Sector, passed away while performing his duties Friday, Nov. 2, near Big Bend National Park, Texas. An investigation is under way to confirm the agent’s cause of death. Agent Delaney was 44 years old and served in the U.S. Border Patrol for 10 years. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of agent Delaney during this difficult time."

Delaney leaves behind a wife and three children.

A Customs and Border Patrol spokesperson said, "At this time, there is no indication this death was a result of foul play."
