Corporal Kevin Aigner passed away while assisting residents in an area devastated by wildfire. He was working his post on Wharton Cove when he began to have trouble breathing. He was flown to Seton Medical Center where he later died.
Corporal Aigner had served with the Travis County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office for 12 years and had served in law enforcement for a total of 15 years.

Travis County Constable Cpl. Kevin Aigner died on duty Saturday after having trouble breathing. He was 38.

Precinct 2 Constable Adan Ballesteros said Aigner was helping to guard homes damages in the Steiner Ranch wildfire.

He collapsed and was taken via STAR Flight to Seton Medical Center. He died after leaving the scene, Ballesteros said.

"We’re taking it kind of hard right now," Ballesteros said. "He was an outstanding law enforcement officer."

Aigner was someone who would help people new to law enforcement, Ballesteros said.

"That’s why he was promoted to corporal," Ballesteros said. "He mentored them. He showed them the ropes and the pitfalls."

Aigner was a highly decorated deputy and had been a peace officer since 1996. He has served as a deputy constable in Precinct 2 since March 2000.

Aigner leaves behind a wife, two daughters and two sons.

Constable’s office officials said memorial arrangements will be announced later.

Deputy Kevin Aigner was a good officer and a good friend! When I worked at Travis County Precint 2 in 2003, Kevin never failed to respond to any questions I posed to him. He was a great friend and I will miss him dearly.
I want to express my condolences to his wife, whom he spoke of often, and All the Pct 2 deputies! may God Bless in this time of need!
