Agent Luis Gomez-Crespo was shot and killed when he attempted to take action during a robbery while off duty.
Agent Gomez-Crespo, his father, and another officer were in a restaurant while off duty when a man entered and announced a robbery. When the three identified themselves as officers the man opened fire, striking Agent Gomez-Crespo five times. His father, who also serves with the Puerto Rico Police Department, and the other off duty officer were also shot and wounded.
The suspect turned himself in at a local police station and was charged with one count of murder of a law enforcement officer and two counts of attempted murder.
Agent Luis Gomez-Crespo had served with the Puerto Rico Police Department for four years and was assigned to the South Trujillo Alto Precinct. He is survived by his wife, daughter, and parents.

Patillas – The trio shared social on Friday when the thief said the assault. Apparently, what the thief was not expected was that two of the people who stole them were policemen and were armed. Perhaps that’s why, when he saw the gun regulations in the waist of one of them opened fire.

Luis Gomez Rodriguez, in charge of the fleet of police motorcycles in the region of Guayama, all he could tell the crook before the attack was to stop the joke. Gomez Rodriguez was hit in the buttock. Another subject that was with the policemen, identified as Luis Alvarado Rivera, 38, was wounded in the right leg, and Luis Enrique Gómez Crespo, 29, assigned to the barracks south of Trujillo Alto, was the worst part, the receive five shots.

Gomez Crespo was born in Patillas the Caribbean Kiosk, where the incident occurred at about 5:15 pm, to the Center of Diagnosis and Treatment (CDT) and referred to the hospital Patillas Lafayette, Arroyo, where he died.

Yesterday, a special team of researchers from the Uniformed investigate. Sergeant Juan Bautista, of the Homicide Division of Police, in Guayama, said they interviewed several eyewitnesses to get get a clear picture of who was the perpetrator.

Gomez Rodriguez is a police officer 23 years of experience, while his son had died in the incident four years in the uniform.

Indeed, the deceased went to the police in the footsteps of his father, said Denisse Gómez Crespo, sister of the murdered cop.

"He loved the Police. From childhood he was always surrounded by police and he loved what he did … He was a person too good. I never had problems with anybody, "the woman tearfully lamented. His brother had a son seven years.

Gomez Rodriguez’s cousin, also a member of the Police who also named Luis Gomez, said the thief apparently was accompanied by a female driving a Suzuki Baleno car, burgundy. Precisely in that car was the murderer fled the area after committing the crime. Amid the attack, the thief took the gun from one of the officers.

At the time of the incident, the trio planned a meeting between family and friends to take the days off they had in the summer.
