Trooper Jonathan McDonald was killed in an automobile accident on U.S. 84 while responding to another accident near Post, Texas. He was involved in a single vehicle crash during the response.

DALLAS — The Texas Department of Public Safety says a highway patrol trooper has died in a one-vehicle crash near the West Texas town of Post.

Jonathan McDonald, 28, died Monday night when he lost control of his vehicle and it struck a culvert. He was responding to an accident on U.S. 84 south of Post at the time.

The highway patrol’s crash investigation team is probing McDonald’s wreck.

The trooper joined DPS in January 2008 and was stationed in Post. He is survived by his wife and a six-month-old daughter.
