TEANECK — A Teaneck police officer died following a one-vehicle accident, according to a report on News 12 New Jersey.

John Abraham’s cruiser struck a utility pole near police headquarters on Teaneck Road between Holland Terrace and Bennett Street around 2 a.m, the report said. He was taken to Holy Name Hospital before being pronounced dead this morning.

The 37-year-old married father of a 5-year-old son had been on the force since 1994.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police said Abraham wasn’t responding to a call at the time of the crash, but his computer showed he was checking some license plate numbers just before the accident.
